Q: I was using TestGen on a Macintosh, but now I have a Windows PC. Can I move the tests and testbanks from my Macintosh to my Windows PC?

A: Yes. Tes (.tst) and testbank (.bok) files created with the Macintosh version of TestGen can be opened and read with the Windows verion of TestGen, assuming the version number of TestGen is the same or higher on the Windows PC.

Q: Can I open a Windows TestGen test or testbank on a Macintosh?

A: The answer is yes, if your Macintosh is running OS 10.x. First install Macintosh TestGen 7.x on your computer. Then, transfer the test (.tst) or testbank (.bok) file from your Windows PC onto your Macintosh. If you have TestGen 7.4.4 or higher installed, you should be able to open the testbank (.bok) or test (.tst) file with TestGen on the Mac without any conversion or other changes.

If you have a version of TestGen earlier than TestGen 7.4.4, the best approach is to upgrade to the current application using "Check for Updates" on the TestGen Help menu. If for some reason you cannot update, then use the TestGen File Changer, a free download from Tamarack, to convert the PC files to work with the Macintosh TestGen. The newly converted file should be recognized by TestGen so you can open the test or testbank and use it on your Macintosh.
