When I do to TOOLS --> PREFERENCES --> APPLICATION PREFERENCES, I cannot change ANYTHING on ANY tab because I get a message that says "The path for the test directory is not valid." This messages pups up even if i open APPLICATION PREFERENCES and press the OK button. PLEASE HELP!!! I AM A TEACHER, I NEED THIS ENABLED!!!

TestGen Forums:

I am the same person who added the question above. I have Reset TestGen multiples times and nothing changes. I still have the same problem.

The error message you're encountering happens when the default path for saving tests points to a directory that doesn't exist. You won't be able to change anything in the application preferences until you fix it:

1) Open the application preferences dialog: Tools -> Preferences -> Application Preferences.
2) Go to the "File Locations" tab.
3) In the "Tests" group, click the "Browse" button.
4) Select a directory such as "Documents".

If the "Tests" directory is invalid, it's common for the "Testbanks" directory to be invalid as well. To fix it:

5) In the "Testbanks" group, click the "Browse" button.
6) Select a directory such as "Documents".
7) Click "OK" in the preferences dialog to save the new locations.

At this point, you should be able to change other application preferences without a problem.

YAY!!!! Thank you so so much, I've actually been trying to get this fixed with Pearson for two months and they have been unable to do it.

I have another question, SO SORRY TO BOTHER YOU. If I update my Mac to Catalina, would TestGen still work? If not, what should I do, are you guys updating the software, or should I not update?

Thank you so much for your help!

The current version of TestGen, 7.6.5, is not compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina. The next version, 7.7, will be. We're currently finishing up compatibility testing, and expect to release it to publishers by the end of the month.
