How to create Algorithmic Questions?

Hi,

We have several banks with algorithmic questions so we know it's possible but the functionality to create one seems to be missing?

Thank you,

TestGen Forums:

What I'm providing here is a brief summary of the procedure; you can read the details in the help file at http://www.tamarack-software.com/webhelp/webhelp765/tg7help.htm, section "Math Related Editing"->"Defining and Inserting Variables".

The first step is to define your variables: open up the "Variable Definitions" dialog by selecting "Variable" from the "Insert" menu. Each row in the dialog is a variable, and the third column is a list of values that variable can take on (separated by a "bullet" character produced by typing "control+\").

The second step is to link the variables into groups. Each group changes its values in lockstep: for example, if variable V1 can take on the values 1, 2, or 3, and V2 can take on 4, 5, or 6, and the two are in a group, you'll always get the pairs (1,4), (2,5), or (3,6). You create a group by putting the same number into the "Link" column for each variable you want in the group.

The final step is to insert variables into the problem. Place the cursor where you want to insert the variable, open the "Variable Definitions" dialog, select the variable you want, and click the "Insert Selected Variable" button.

Once you've inserted variables into a problem, you can recalculate their values by selecting "Calculate New Values" from the "Question" menu, or by typing the shortcut "Control+R" or "⌘-R". You can switch between showing the values of variables and showing their names by selecting "Variable Name" or "Variable Value" from the "View" menu, or with the keyboard shortcut "Control+T"/"⌘-T".

Each question has its own set of variables, and can't access the variables from any other question.
