database error

One of our instructors is getting a "...database error" message after publishing a test, where should I strart looking to troubleshoot this issue?

Are there any database integrity-checking / repair tools available for testgen ?

Thanks

TestGen Forums:

Need a little more info:

* What type of test were they trying to publish?

* Which version of the Mac OS are they running?

I cured this last time by restoring a backup.

However, we just started getting similar mesages again. We have TestGen 7.x residing on a server share. Clients are XP/Vista/7, and problems are occuring on all platforms.

The current error message is :

Unable to add ct_file_segment.
ISAM error 653 on file 20 , 653

Any clues, and are there any integrity checking tools available?

Mike

Sorry for the delay in a response...

It's possible the index files are corrupt. Let's try deleting them and having QuizMaster rebuild them. The *.idx files are usually in your shared "Records" directory:

  • ct_file.idx
  • ct_hfile.idx
  • ct_log.idx
  • mail.idx
  • messages.idx
  • student.idx
  • tests.idx

Do This:

  1. Backup the *.idx files in your records directory.
  2. Delete the *.idx files in your records directory.
  3. Launch the QuizMaster Utility in TestGen.
  4. Verify all is well with your records in the Utility.
  5. Check the records directory, the *.idx files should reappear.

At this point go ahead and test the QuizMaster clients and see how it works.
