BlackBoard Export is not importing to BlackBoard

I exported my exam to "Black Board 6x-9x". However I am unable to import it into my course. We are using version "Blackboard – Q4 2016: Release 3100.0.6-rel.3+cd2a24d."

TestGen Forums:

Should work.

What do you mean by "unable to import into my course"? For instance, do you get any error messages, have data errors, other? The more details here, the better I can help you.

Jeff

For some of my courses I use Cangages "ExamView" and when I go to BlackBoad I just click Import Test and when imported, it shows up under my test. When I tried it with TestGen I went through the Import Test with no hitch (said successfully imported), but the exam didn't show up under my test. ...UPDATE since my original post..... I had to get it online by 4:00 so I decided to just use the build test option and just copy and paste the questions in. However, for the hell of it, when I clicked "Build Test" I decided to click on "Reuse Questions" and the Test from TestGen was listed as a question pool. In ExamView I export it to "Black Board 7.1+" (the other choice is "Black Board 6.0-7.0 which doesn't work at all.. test or pool).

Good description Kevin.

Yes, as you discovered, TestGen tests exported to the Blackboard format import into Blackboard as a question pool, not a test. After import, you'll have to create a blackboard test and move the questions from the pool to your test.

If you want I can send you the 2 "exported" .zip files (one that works Exam View and the TestGen one). Then you can compare and see if it's something in the code/header/formatting thing. I can also send a third from ExamView that doesn't work that's exported to "Black Board 6.0-7.0"

Thank you, but no need to send files. TestGen is working as designed. Tests exported to the Blackboard format will import as pools, not tests.

I receive the following error when I try to import a pool of questions into Blackboard. I create a pool of questions in Testgen, then save its as Blackboard 6-9 and try to upload it as a pool in Bb. I am using macOS Catalina with the latest version of Testgen through Pearson:

The package has been processed. The log file is below.
Dec 4, 2019 9:17:33 AM - [ERROR] Error: Assessment information could not be imported.

TestGen 7.7.1 for Mac has been released, and has some bugfixes related to exports. It should be available from your textbook's publisher.

I'm using v7.7 of TestGen on macOS 10.15.1 (19B88)

I've wasted hours selecting the appropriate questions for my final and I've tried to import them as Pool or Test and get the following output from BB. It's Dec 9 and Pearson has not deployed anything past version 7.7

The package has been processed. The log file is below.

Guess I'll have to fire up a VM and use the Windblows version.

In the macOS version of TestGen when you export your exam to BB (that's our system at CUNY) there is no prompt for adding a name to your question pool or description (optional) to the question pool. I think that's what make's BB barf on processing the bundled files.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble. Could you contact us through the contact form (select the category "Support Request") so we can arrange for you to send us a copy of the test and the non-working export to inspect?
